The importance of keeping your desktop computer clean.
Most desktops that come in for repair are pretty dirty, which is pretty typical. If your fans are working properly, they are bringing in lots of dust and grime. We take the computer outside and take the cover off. We then use Blow Off which is a really good canned air.
The most important thing is to clean out all system fans. If your fans are not cleared enough from dust, then they cannot cool your system properly. Usually when this becomes obvious is if your computer is shutting down out of nowhere. Your system needs to breath to keep the system cooled off. If your system overheats and shutdowns, then you are a risk for corrupting windows files. If this happens your system may not boot up into windows.
(According to https://www.makeuseof.com/tag/pc-operating-temperatures-hot-hot/ Scientifically speaking, ambient room temperature is between 20°C/68°F and 26°C/79°F, averaging at about 23°C/73°F. Anything exceeding 27°C /80°F is potentially damaging to your computer. Obviously, this is especially something to watch out for in the summer.
The cold is certainly not as hazardous as excessive heat. Temperatures slightly below 20°C/68°F aren’t something to be fearful of.
A simple mercury thermometer can give you an accurate gauge of your worktop.)
